ABOUT US
Hearts and Homes for Veterans, Inc. is a Florida nonprofit corporation that was created on March 25, 2013. Its purpose is to support homeless veterans, and their families, who find themselves without the necessities of everyday life.
Hearts and Homes for Veterans is committed to empowering these veterans to lift themselves out of poverty and then, in turn, reach back and help other veterans do the same.

Hearts and Homes for Veterans began in 2012 when Don Payton, a Vietnam combat Marine veteran, took action to help homeless veterans. Despite facing his own health challenges, Don set out with a pickup truck, determined to make a difference. What started as a grassroots effort soon grew into a formal organization, incorporated as a 501(c)(3) in 2013.
Starting with just a small group of volunteers, Hearts and Homes served nearly 100 veterans in its first year and has since grown to help over 600 veterans annually. What sets us apart is our ability to provide immediate assistance with housing, utilities, food, and other essential needs.
Today, under the leadership of Dale Spain, our organization continues to expand its services from our Fort Myers facility, thanks to the ongoing support of volunteers, donors, and local businesses.
